What the band has been up to and when...

Pre-season: New Era begins for Tweedvale
After 9 years as a Grade 4 band, a new era dawns for Tweedvale Pipe Band this Saturday 12 May at the Dunbar Pipe Band contest, the traditional season opener. When the band draws up to the line to commence the first performance of their tenth outdoor competition season it will do so as a Grade 3 band. Click here for the full story.

12 May 2007 - Promising start to Grade 3 life for Tweedvale.

Tweedvale Pipe Band commenced their Grade 3 career promisingly at Dunbar. The poor weather conditions made playing difficult but the band overcame this hurdle in its debut performance as a Grade 3 band. For a full report on the bands performance at Dunbar, click here.

19 May 2007 - Dismal Dumbarton for Tweedvale Pipe Band.
Tweedvale Pipe Band made it two dismal Dumbarton performances in two years when they performed in the Grade 3B pipe band contest at the 100 Pipers Scottish Pipe Band Championships. For a full report on the bands performance at Dumbarton, click here.

26 May 2007 -  Bathgate Improvement for Tweedvale.
Tweedvale Pipe Band's contest season continued at the Bathgate & West Lothian Highland Games on the last Saturday of May. Playing their medley set for the first time in competition, the band played better that at the Scottish but there is still room for improvement. 2 June 2007 - The Hawick contest was cancelled, so there is no news to report.

16 June 2007 - Further Improvement for Tweedvale at the Innerleithen Pipe Band Championships.
Tweedvale Pipe Band made a little bit of history when they participated in a Grade Two contest for the very first time at the Innerleithen Pipe Band Championships on Saturday 16 June. The poor weather conditions did not help the bands performances but, slowly and steadily, the band is beginning to find its feet in Grade 3. 28 July 2007 - Tweedvale Pipe Band withdrew their entry to the European Championships. There is therefore no news to report.

4 August  2007 -  First Trophies in Grade 3 for Tweedvale at North Berwick!!
Tweedvale Pipe Band took their first trophies as a Grade 3 band at the North Berwick contest. Playing their medley selection, Tweedvale Pipe Band put in what was undoubtedly their best contest performance of the year so far. For a full report on the North Berwick contest, click here.

11 August 2007 -  Tweedvale Pipe Band perform at World Pipe Band Championships.
Tweedvale Pipe Band travelled to Glasgow last Saturday to participate in the largest pipe band contest on the planet, the World Pipe Band Championships. Held on Glasgow Green, the World’s attracts over 250 bands from all across the globe to compete for the coveted title of World Champions. Tweedvale Pipe Band arrived in Glasgow before 1.00pm in order to prepare for their performance and found Glasgow deluged with rain and Glasgow Green turning into Glasgow Brown!! 18 August 2007 -  Another Damp Contest for Tweedvale Pipe Band at Melrose!!
Another Saturday, another bout of rain and another pipe band contest for Tweedvale Pipe Band. Last weekend saw Tweedvale Pipe Band travel to Melrose to participate in the 12th Melrose Pipe Band Championships held in the grounds of St Mary’s School. A luxuriously late departure time saw the band travel down to Melrose well rested and in good spirits but a shock was in store upon registration.  Click here for a full report on the Melrose contest

25 August 2007 - Disappointing Cowal Championships for Tweedvale Pipe Band !!
Tweedvale Pipe Band travelled west at an early hour on Saturday 25 August to participate in the Cowal Championships, the last major of the year. As is now usual for pipe band contests this year, wet weather awaited the band. 1 September 2007 - Tweedvale Youth Team victorious in Busking Contest!!
Tweedvale Pipe Band head into the Peebles contest buoyed by the news that four young members of the band were victorious in the junior section of the Busking Contest held on the afternoon of Saturday 1 September as part of the Peebles Arts Festival. For a full report, click here.

9 September 2007 - Final Fling at Peebles for Tweedvale Pipe Band!!
 
Tweedvale Pipe Band’s contest season was brought to a close with a rendition of “The Beltane Song”, “O’er the Hills to Peebles” and “On St Ronan’s” as the band paraded along Peebles High Street at the end of the Peebles Highland Games, held in Hay Lodge Park last Sunday. On a dull and overcast day Tweedvale took part in the Grade 3 and Grade 2 pipe band contests, playing their medley selection on both occasions. For a full report, click here.
