What the band has been up to and when...

13/5/06 - Good Start to Outdoor Season

 

The band got the 2006 outdoor contest season off to a flying start at the 24th Dunbar Pipe Band Contest held on Saturday 13 May in Winterfield Park. Playing 12th out of 24 bands, Tweedvale put in a very creditable performance to take 3rd place overall winning the Craig-en-Gelt Shield. 20/05/2006 - Disaster at the Scottish Championships!!
 
Tweedvale Pipe Band travelled to the Scottish Pipe Band Championships, held in Levengrove Park Dumbarton on 20 May, with high hopes of doing well. A third place at the previous contest at Dunbar had set the band up for a good performance but everything went pear-shaped on the day and the band failed to qualify for the 12 band final. 27/5/06 - Back on Form at Bathgate!!
 
Tweedvale Pipe Band got their competition season back on track at the Bathgate & West Lothian Highland Games held in Meadow Park Bathgate on Saturday 27 May. A downpour of rain at the prize giving ceremony also brought a deluge of prizes Tweedvale's way as the band took 1st place overall winning the John Russell Trophy, the Drum Crops again took 1st place winning the SNP Trophy and the Bass Section took the best Bass Section prize to lift the Billy Strathearn Memorial Trophy. 3/06/06 - Second Win of Season at Hawick!!
 
Tweedvale Pipe Band continued their recent good form on the contest field with a second successive victory when the band took 1st place in Grade 4 at the Hawick Pipe Band Contest. The pipe corps, for the first time this season, took first place in piping whilst the drummers took first in drumming for the third contest in a row. More success followed when the band were placed 3rd in Grade 3, only being beaten by the Grade 3 bands present. For a full report and further information about the 2006 Hawick contest, click here.

 
17/06/06 - Hat-trick of Victories at Innerleithen!!
 
Tweedvale Pipe Band scored a double hat-trick at the 5th Innerleithen Pipe Band Championships on Staurday 17 June when they won their third consecutive contest victory of the 2006 contest season AND their third consecutive Grade 4 title at the Innerleithen Pipe Band Championships. 29/07/06 - Second at Europeans for Tweedvale!!

 

After a month's break, Tweedvale Pipe Band maintained their fine competition form by storming to a second place finish in Grade 4A at the European Pipe Band Championships held at Battery Park Greenock on Saturday, 29 July. 05/08/06 - More prizes at North Berwick!!
 
Tweedvale Pipe Band continued their prize-winning ways at North Berwick on Saturday 5 August. Taking fourth place in the Open contest, the band also won for the second successive year the Lochcarron Trophy thus winning the confined RSPBA Lothian an Broders Branch Championships.  12/08/06 - Good World's Showing for Tweedvale!!
 
Tweedvale Pipe Band travelled to Glasgow on Saturday 12 August to participate in the biggest pipe band championship on the planet, the World Pipe Band Championships. The band again performed well winning its qualifying heat to gain a place in the 12 band final for the third successive year. 19/08/07 - Third Place at Melrose for Tweedvale!!

 

Tweedvale Pipe Band continued its prize-winning run at the 11th Melrose Pipe Band Championships held last weekend in the grounds of St Mary’s School by taking third place in the Grade 4 contest and receiving the prize for Best Borders band in the championships.  For a full report and further information about the 2006 Melrose Pipe Band Championships, click here.

26/08/06 - Not quite 7th heaven at Cowal!!
 
Tweedvale Pipe Band tavelled to Dunoon on Saturday 26 August to participate in the final Major of the year, the Cowal Championships. Though the band performed well, the weather and the final placing of 7th overall put a dampner on the day.  01/11/06 - PROMOTION FOR TWEEDVALE!!
 

Tweedvale Pipe Bands 2006 contest season has been rounded off in fine style with the news that the band has achieved promotion to Grade 3. This news together with a haul of 22 trophies from pipe band championships all over Scotland mark 2006 as one of the bands most successful years ever. Confirmation of the promotion was received in late October from the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association. The band gathered in early November to mark the occasion with a celebratory band portrait.
